Winter Season Re-Cap

The 2014-15 was a very successful season with 4 teams qualifying for the MIAA State Tournament and two individual state champions.
Boys basketball returned back to the state tournament and had to face a very tough Bishop Feehan side. The boys competed hard and kept the game close through the 4th quarter.
Girls basketball returned back to the state tournament for the 3rd consecutive season and suffered a loss to Notre Dame Academy a rematch with a similar result as their 2012-2013 season.
Boys hockey under 1st year coach Tim Drew made their return to the state tournament only to see their hopes of a state tournament run cut short by Canton High School.
The first year girls hockey program qualified for the state tournament and receiving a 3 seed and posted its first post season win in program history.
Both wrestling and indoor track & field sent several athletes on to sectionals and divisionals. Justin Freyemuth capped off a very successful wrestling career at PN with a sectional and D2 state championship and a 3rd place finish at all-states and granting him an invitation to the New England championships. Michael Alberghini won sectionals at his weight class and qualified for all states for his performance at the D2 championship.
Indoor track and field had a state champion as we saw Jackie Sullivan run her way to a state title in the 600 M dash. Jackie saw equal success at all states and advanced to New England's where she placed 8th. The girls 4 X 800 M relay team qualified for all states for their performance at divisionals.

Fall Sports Underway

After a few weeks into our Fall athletic season we are off to great start amongst all our programs. Participation numbers were very strong for all our programs which is very exciting and bodes well for the future of PN athletics. The Fall 2014 season marks our first year in the very competitive Patriot League which will reignite some old rivalries with Silver Lake, Duxbury and Whitman Hanson.

Boys and girls cross country has hit the ground running and are undefeated early in the season and have some big meets coming up with Whitman Hanson and Hingham which will certainly have major league title implications. Football will open up Patriot League play Friday 9/26 vs the powerful Duxbury Dragons at home 7:00. Should be an outstanding game as both teams will look to start league play with a win.

Early season boys and girls soccer, volleyball, field hockey and golf have all been competitive and posted some key wins as they look to position themselves for post season play. Boys and girls soccer, field hockey and volleyball all have contests coming up this week with cross town rival Plymouth South (field hockey home 9/22 at 5:30/7:00, V boys soccer at South 9/25 at 5:00 and V girls at 7:00, volleyball 9/26 at South 3:30)

For complete schedules to home and away contests you can go to the PNHS website, www.plymouthnorthathletics.com or www.miaa.net. Come out and support our student athletes.
